Rebuild the Internet

For me, the internet is a multifunctional tool that connects me to people, knowledge, goods, and services across the globe. I put the wifi symbol at the center of my drawing because wifi is generally what gives people the ability to access the internet and everything that goes with it. I also included icons that represent social media, email, web search, shopping, phones, security, and knowledge because these are the primary ways I access and use the internet. Social media, texting, and email are the primary ways I connect with friends and family, especially during the pandemic since it is hard to see people in person. I also do a majority of my shopping- everything from Christmas presents to groceries- via the internet because it gives me a larger selection and less risk of getting covid. The internet is also my biggest source of knowledge, both academically and practically. One of the newer uses of the internet I’ve seen is for home security systems which allow you to lock the doors, turn off the lights, etc. from your phone, and it is innovations like this that make the internet an increasingly important part of everyday life.
